Great article. Most important point here (in my opinion): “a 44mm Seiko diver and 23mm Tank Louis both are appropriately sized.” Lug shape and bezel thickness make a huge difference. For example, 36-38 is my personal sweet spot (I’ll probably be comfortable with any piece in this range), but my ‘black tie’ piece is 33.5 and never feels too small, and my ‘rugged’ watch is 41.5 with a thick ceramic bezel. Always need to try em on the wrist before really deciding.
I’m with you! I think a 34 is a great size, especially when you’re not looking for the watch to impose anything/you want something to just sort of “hang out” on the wrist. It’s comfortable, it’s compact, and I like it. Great read!
